Temperature Matters

World Refrigeration Day “Temperature Matters”

On June 26, 2024, we celebrated World Refrigeration Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the significant role of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pumps in our daily lives. Since it is the birthday of Lord Kelvin, pioneer in thermodynamics whose influence involves absolute temperature scale that carries his name, June 26th was chosen as the annual celebration date of World Refrigeration Day.

Refrigeration is more than just keeping our food and drinks cold. It influences everything from data centers and industrial operations to food preservation and vaccine storage. It encourages schools and colleges to look into the various and meaningful careers available within our industry. It also highlights the industry’s role in creating more hygienic and comfortable environments. This includes providing cleaner air supplies and promoting efficient and sustainable heating solutions. By advancing these areas, the industry contributes significantly to the well-being of individuals and communities, ensuring healthier living and working spaces. Additionally, these efforts support broader environmental goals by reducing energy consumption and minimizing the carbon footprint.

A video from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) emphasizes how important refrigeration and air conditioning specialists are to the fight against climate change. It shows the presence of refrigerant gases in heating and cooling systems, which, if released, contribute to global warming. It also explains that consumers should always look for a licensed technician to install, maintain, or remove a system since only ARCtick licensed technicians are permitted to handle these refrigerants.
