The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) released their latest CoolChange newsletter.
The December 2016 issue focuses on: the new Standards which have replaced AS/NZS 1677, good refrigerant storage practices during the summer months, SafeWork NSW’s safety alert for servicing of refrigeration systems, cross-contamination of gasses, CO2 use in Europe, the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition, the Kigali Amendment, RAC licences fees, and the illegal discharge of refrigerant.
CoolChange stated that ARC had representatives on the Standards committee assessing the significant amendments to the Australian Standards, relating to safety classifications for refrigerants and encouraged all technicians and businesses to read and understand the new Standards. ARC also published the dates for their Roadshow seminar series on the new standards, which are being held in every capital city (with the exception of Darwin) from February until March.
CoolChange also featured the Stationary and Automotive codes of practice in regards to refrigerant cylinder storage, after ARC Field Officers made observations of them being exposed to direct sunlight. Information on lawful discharge of refrigerants was also published.
CoolChange also featured the importance of re-using refrigerants in accordance with the law and the dangers of impure refrigerants. CoolChange also published an article by VASA which detailed the popularity of R744 in European cars.
The annual indexation to application fees for RAC Licences was also published, revealing that the fees for 2017 have increased by 1.96% from 2016.
