ASQA running information sessions on new training standards

info-803717_1280

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) will be running nation-wide information sessions to help Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) transition into updated training standards.

The federal government have recently announced $68 million in funding over four years for ASQA to implement these updated training standards for RTOs. ASQA will be implementing these standards by providing enhanced information and guidance to training providers to help them comply with the standards, reduce regulatory scrutiny on providers who have a track record of compliance and by focusing on providers who don’t comply with the standards.

ASQA will be providing some RTOs regulatory responsibility, which gives them the ability to manage their own registration, without having to pay fees for each new qualification to their registration scope. This will save RTOs a lot of time, money and will reduce red tape. However RTOs must meet eligibility requirements to gain this ability–this eligibility includes being registered for at least five years, having been renewed by the ASQA without audit and having no outstanding regulatory concerns or actions on their record.

ASQA will be providing information sessions for RTOs to help them understand these standards and responsibilities and are seeking expressions of interest for targeted information sessions. Expressions of interest close on Friday October 24 at 5pm, with formal registration commencing the following Monday on October 27.The information sessions would commence in December.
