About Us

The Woolworths Format and Network Development Team are responsible for innovating and developing retail stores of the future across supermarkets, Metro & Big W. We have more than 1000 team members located across Australia and New Zealand. We’re construction people, facilities and asset management people. We’re planning & commercial people. We’re architects and sustainability people. We’re data analysts, refrigeration and air conditioning people. We are operations and training people; and together, we’re doing our part to bring fresh food and great experiences to our customers every day.

We strive to be at the forefront of refrigeration technologies. Our roles will provide you with exposure to the latest supermarket systems and provide opportunities to further develop your skills. We have installed nearly 100 trans-critical Co2 refrigeration systems across Australia utilising  the latest technologies and electronic controls. We pride ourselves on developing our team and ensuring we all grow together. By working closely with industry partners and RTOs, we  provide our team members with the latest product training and guidance to ensure they are successful in their role.

The Opportunity

When it comes to finding top talent, we are ‘always on’ just like our Refrigeration systems and as a result we are seeking Expressions of Interest from a range of Refrigeration professionals for roles across our Australian teams including:

  • New Apprentice
  • 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Refrigeration Apprentices
  • Refrigeration technicians – Service or Installation
  • Nominated Supervisors
  • Refrigeration Project Managers
  • Commissioners
  • Refrigeration Engineers

What will your days look like?

Given the variety of refrigeration roles across our team, there are so many possibilities. From reviewing plans and designing systems in one of our support offices, to carrying out site inspections or installations on our construction sites, or even maintaining our existing stores. The possibilities are endless.

We implement designs by creating retail store formats that are purpose-built for our customers and teams. We innovate by focusing on Continuous Improvement, sustainability and  technology. We work with our suppliers, service providers and operations teams to move towards a healthier planet. We maintain all aspects of our supermarkets’ stores through having highly specialised, skilled team members across all trades. Every decision we make is designed with our customers and teams at the heart.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who are passionate about going the extra mile for our stores and customers. Depending on whether you’re an apprentice or an experienced Refrigeration specialist, if you have refrigeration, or HVAC experience we want to hear from you. If you meet a number of the requirements, but not all, we encourage you to apply as we are always improving and looking to grow and develop our team members.
