On Wednesday, RACCA Australia and Woolworths combined efforts to celebrate World Refrigeration Day and lift the profile of our industry. Doors to Woolworths’ state-of-the-art natural refrigerants plant rooms in their Greenway Village, NSW and Caroline Springs, VIC stores were opened for all interested participants. The day involved giving a guided tour of the refrigeration systems which allow Woolworths to operate the store at high efficiency while reducing their carbon footprint.
Three sessions were run at the NSW store, while VIC held two tour sessions. The turnout was a good mix of eager high school students and industry technicians curious about the latest technology in natural refrigeration. RACCA Australia President Kevin O’Shea and President of RACCA Victoria and Tasmania Robert Taylor each gave a talk during the sessions at the Greenway Village and Caroline Springs stores, respectively, so did representatives from RMIT and TAFE along with Woolworths service and installation personnel. The experience garnered further interest from the school children with RACCA currently looking into connecting them with work experience in our industry.
