26 June 2019 will be the inaugural celebration of World Refrigeration Day. This day aims to raise awareness about the role the refrigeration and air conditioning industry plays in supporting modern life and society.
ARC Field Officers will be on-site at various Kirby (formerly Heatcraft) branches across Australia on World Refrigeration Day to provide advice on the refrigeration and air conditioning permit scheme and to support technicians.
Kirby are coinciding World Refrigeration Day with the launch of their Kirby Apprentice Fund, established to strengthen the technical skills of the HVAC&R industry.
In addition, toolbox talks will be held at selected branches where technicians will be able to have their leak detectors tested for free. ARC Field Officers will be on hand to answer questions and will have free ARC-branded services stickers, codes of practice and promotional materials to give away.
Michael Bennett, Chairman of the ARC, said the refrigeration and air conditioning industry is vital to modern life. “It’s not a stretch to say refrigeration and air conditioning is vital to mankind’s survival,” he said.
“When you consider surgical operations can’t happen without refrigeration facilities, or that there’d be no transport of meat or other perishables without refrigeration, then you start to understand the important role a refrigeration and air conditioning technician plays in society.”
“World Refrigeration Day is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge, say thanks, and support our technicians – and that’s exactly what ARC will be doing.”
