GEMS Regulator cancelled 14 refrigerated cabinet registrations

The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Regulator has cancelled the registrations of 14 refrigerated cabinets, making them unavailable for sale or supply in Australia.

The registrant was required to provide two refrigerated cabinets for check testing under section 57 of the GEMS Act, but ultimately applied to cancel the registration of all 14 of their registered products instead under subsection 54(2) of the GEMS Act.

To ensure that the product lives up to the energy-efficiency claims made on the registration, check testing is done. A model can no longer be supplied in Australia after its registration has been cancelled.

Compliance activities guarantee that businesses operate in fair, competitive commercial environment where all parties are bound by the same regulations, and consumers can have the confidence in the quality of goods they purchase.
