HVAC systems go smart to end the decade–CCN

Climate Control News have published findings of a research report, which detail how HVAC systems will adapt to smart technology over the next four years.

According to Climate Control News’ article, the research report, which was conducted by market research company, Technavio, the Asia Pacific region remains the largest market for chillers accounting for 300,000 units as of 2013. In 2013, chillers represented 74 percent of the global market and almost 50 percent in revenue.

Climate Control News’ article focused on the three trends that Technavio’s report identified: integration with the Internet of Things (IoT), the emergence of smart technology and a growing preference for interoperability.

In regards to the IoT and smart technology, Climate Control News’ article emphasises Technavio’s report findings of the necessary high initial expenditure in the implementation of smart HVAC systems so energy savings and market share benefits can be reaped.

In regards to interoperability, Climate Control News’ article emphasises Technavio’s report findings of building owners increasingly requesting interoperability for commercial AC components, as it eliminates the need to engage with a single service provider in the long-term. Manufacturers are also slowly switching to a local operating network to make their systems open and ready for interoperability.
