IIR Women in Refrigeration Feature

Lady

The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) have published a detailed feature on women in refrigeration, following the success of the International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR2015) earlier this year.

The feature focuses specifically on the gender imbalance in the refrigeration industry and the workshop “Women in Refrigeration”, which was held during the Congress.

The feature’s focus on the gender imbalance in the refrigeration industry highlighted the need to increase education and career opportunities for women in the industry. The IIR were also not afraid to point out their own gender imbalance with the feature stating that women represent only 10 percent of the Commission members (41 women to 369 men) and less than 10 percent of ICR2015 participants were women.

The Women in Refrigeration workshop aimed to explore why there was a gender imbalance in refrigeration and how to increase the number of women in refrigeration. The workshop also consisted of discussion between the attendees as to how they decided that refrigeration was the industry for them.

The feature can be found and read in full here.
