RACCA Australia (Kevin O’Shea) collaborated with Daikin Australia (George Baramilis and Jose Refina) and Kirby HVACR (Brett Hedge, Iain Viviani, and Elizabeth Paparo) in south-west Sydney for a ‘Maths in Trades’ Workshop as part of the NSW Government Educational Pathways Pilot Program. 

The aim of the day was to give school children insight into what refrigeration and air conditioning tradespeople do by giving cooling load demonstrations and explaining the basic function behind how air conditioning and refrigeration works.

Years 9-11 students were given math formulas to learn in the classroom ahead of time and were then shown how the math related to our industry to allow students to better understand the trade. Many of the students showed great aptitude for the concepts and reflect a bright future ahead for the next generation for RAC. 

The day could not have been a success without everyone’s committed involvement. Special thank you to the high school math teachers and Joyce Choucair for pulling it all together, along with a shout out to Daikin Australia and Kirby HVACR.
