Melbourne will be hosting the WorldSkills Australia National Competition next year.
The WorldSkills Australia National Competition is held every two years, with next year’s Competition being held from October 6-8. The 2014 WorldSkills Australia National Competition was held in Perth.
The National Competition follows the WorldSkills Competition which was held in Brazil earlier this month. Australia’s Skillaroos returned home from Brazil with 16 medals in total–three silver in Industrial Mechanics Millwright, Web Design and Jewellery, two bronze in Plumbing & Heating and Bricklaying, as well as eleven medallions of excellence.
According to a WorldSkills Australia media release, this year’s Competition is expected to see over 500 competitors from all over the country compete in many trades, including but not limited to: automotive services, building and construction, computing and business, client services and hospitality services. The competitors will complete simulated real work challenges that must be completed according to industry standards.
