The Clean Energy Regulator will be holding workshops on the Safeguard Mechanism.
The Safeguard Mechanism will come into effect on 1 July and the Clean Energy Regulator website states that the Safeguard Mechanism is designed to ensure that emissions reductions purchased through the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) are not offset by significant increases in emissions about business-as-usual levels elsewhere in the economy.
The website also states that the Safeguard Mechanism will apply to facilities under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) scheme and emit more than 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions in a financial year.
The workshops are being held in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane on 21 April, 26 April, 19 May and 26 May respectively. More information on the workshops, including where to register, can be found here.
