After completing months of intensive training, WorldSkills Australia have announced the team who will be representing Australia in this year’s WorldSkills Competition in Brazil later this year.
The Skillaroos Team consists of 25 apprentices, trainees and students working in various trades ranging from bakery to floristry to plumbing and heating to hairdressing and of course, refrigeration and air conditioning.
Beau Kupris will be representing Australia in refrigeration and air conditioning after winning the gold medal at last year’s WorldSkills Australian National Refrigeration Competition.
The WorldSkills Competition is the world’s largest professional education event and involves simulating real work challenges that must be completed to international standards of quality.
This year is the 43rd WorldSkills Competition and is being held from August 11-16 at the Anhembi Exhibition Centre, Sao Paulo. This year marks the first time that a WorldSkills Competition is being held in South America. This year’s Competition will have over 1200 competitors from 63 countries compete in 50 skills categories.
