Students of the newly established Year 13 program are able to access practical help for securing a job once secondary studies are finished.
A national survey conducted by the ABC found that only 39% of Australians were satisfied that the education system was sufficient ‘real world’ preparation for high school graduates.
The program guides year 12 graduates in finding and applying for employment; from writing a cover letter to enrolling in the applicable TAFE courses, it teaches students life skills that are not part of the traditional high school curriculum.
Year 13 has been a success since inception, with 95% of program graduates reported finding full time employment or study.
