ATO app provides more for business owners

Apps

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) have updated their app to make conducting tax affairs on the go easier for business owners.

The ATO app has been updated so small business owners can look up Australian Business Numbers (ABN) and Australian Company Numbers (ACN), check if suppliers are registered for GST and be provided reminders for important lodgement and payment dates.

The ATO app, which was released in 2013, also allows business owners to: see how quickly they can pay off a tax debt with a payment plan, to determine if their employees are eligible for super guarantee and how to calculate super guarantee contributions, to determine whether a worker is an employee or contractor for tax and super purposes, to calculate fuel tax credit entitlements to claim on business activity statements, to calculate the amount of tax to withhold from salary and wage payments and request an after-hours call back from the ATO. The ATO app also allows business owners to find more information they need through Small Business assist, videos, access checklists and SMSF assist.

Individuals can also use the ATO app if they have straightforward tax and super affairs, however to be able to access online services, they will need to have a myGov account linked to the ATO.

The ATO app can be downloaded for free from Google Play, the iTunes Store or the Windows Phone Store.
