The Fair Work Ombudsman has provided information on how pay slips should be issued to employees and what information the pay slips should provide.
The Fair Work Ombudsman’s website states that pay slips have to be issued to employees within one working day of pay and can either be in hard copy or electronic form.
The Fair Work Ombudsman’s website also states exactly what information needs to be provided on pay slips. This information includes but is not limited to: the employer’s and employee’s name, the employer’s Australian Business Number (ABN), pay period, date of payment, gross and net pay, hourly rate (if employees are paid at an hourly rate) and any superannuation contributions.
The Fair Work Ombudsman also recommends that employers give out pay slips in an easily printable format, that pay slips are written in plain English and that employees can assess and print them in private.
More details on what information has to be provided on a pay slip can be found here and resources on pay slips, including a pay slip template, can be found here.
