Climate Control News have published a feature on changes in air conditioning over the last decade.
Climate Control News interviewed major players in the industry from Castel Electronics, Fujitsu General, Daikin Australia, Panasonic and Seeley International to get their perspectives and opinions on changes in air conditioning, since the introduction of the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) in the early 2000s.
Castel Electronics’ National Sales Manager, Reff Liaw, stated in the article that “new technologies have allowed air conditioners sold today to achieve much higher operational energy efficiency in a range of different areas.” Liaw provided specific examples of this relating to the design of DC Inverter driven motors, high performance heat exchangers and technological advances in air conditioning overall.
Fujitsu General’s National Product Manager, John Bourke, also provided examples of improved energy efficiency relating to DC Inverters and heat exchangers, however he stated that Fujitsu’s continual improvement of product performance has lead to large increases in energy efficiency over the years. Earlier this year, four of Fujitsu General’s reverse cycle air conditioning models earned the CHOICE recommendation stamp.
Daikin Australia’s National Marketing Manager, Dan Tosh, provided examples of Daikin Australia’s contributions to air conditioning innovations from their first packaged air conditioners and heat pumps in the 1950s to their most recent accomplishments with their US7 split systems range, which was the first unit globally to use R32 refrigerant.
Panasonic’s Senior Product Marketing Manager for Air Conditioning, Joe De Bella, stated that Panasonic’s contribution to energy efficiency have revolved around multiple innovations, including their inverter technology, sensors, coil designs and changes in the refrigerant gases they use.
Seeley International’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Frank Seeley, stated that changes over the last decade in air conditioning within Seeley International have been due to constantly focusing on innovation, research and product development. Seeley stated that the Braemar SuperStealth series, which was launched last year, was the latest example of their innovation.
