AIRAH Awards 2016 winners announced

The winners of the AIRAH Awards 2016 have been announced.

The AIRAH Awards 2016 Dinner was held at Luna Park last week. The Awards consist of eight categories covering different aspects of the industry from innovation to sustainability, retrofitting, upgrading, solar energy, technicality and research. The eight categories are the: AIRAH Future Leader Award, Research Student of the Year, Trade Student of the Year, Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Sustainability, Best HVAC&R Retrofit or Upgrade, Product of the Year and the WR Ahern Award.

 

The winner of the AIRAH Future Leader Award is Carlos Flores from NABERS.

The winner of the Research Student of the Year Award is Xiaolin Wang.

The winner of the Trade Student of the Year Award is Michael Snook.

The winner of the Award for Excellence in Innovation is Loomers Engineering’s DownUnder GeoSolutions High-Performance Computer Cooling Systems.

The winner of the Award for Excellence in Sustainability is Unow Lai’s work on the School of Design at the University of Melbourne.

The winner of the Best HVAC&R Retrofit or Upgrade is Refrigeration Innovations’ work at the IGA Boccaccio Cellars in Melbourne.

The winner of the Product of the Year Award is Fast Works’ X-Operative TAB.

The winner of the WR Ahern Award is Josh Wall for his technical paper, “Predictive control of refrigerated facilities for improved energy management.”

 

In AIRAH’s media release, AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson stated that this year’s Awards field was the most competitive and that all of the winners contribute to shaping the industry.

“The 2016 AIRAH Award winners are all doing their part to shape our industry, but also that of the greater built environment…It goes without saying that these people, projects and products are a beacon for excellence and innovation in our industry.”
