AIRAH are proposing to establish an innovation hub (iHub) for affordable heating and cooling.
According to its brochure, the Innovation Hub for Affordable Heating and Cooling will “facilitate the HVAC&R industry’s transition to a low-emissions future, stimulate jobs growth, and showcase HVAC innovation in buildings.” The brochure states that the Innovation Hub will achieve this by creating a connected research and development community consisting of a shared IP platform, a streamlined and flexible research environment, living laboratories, and design studios.
The brochure also states that collaboration is the key theme and goal of the Innovation Hub, which will provide virtual and physical spaces that members can access to “incubate ideas and reshape industry practice to the needs of the 21st century.” These virtual and physical spaces include: industry road-mapping, research and seed innovation grants, living laboratory accelerators, design co-creation labs, an undergraduate and vocational training centre, and access to a codes, standards and evidence base.
The brochure recommends Innovation Hub membership to manufacturers, product entrepreneurs, designers and consultants, providing a list of the benefits that its virtual and physical spaces can provide.
The Innovation Hub in itself is a collaboration between AIRAH, CSIRO and PRIME.
