AIRAH will be holding an online course focusing on climate change, sustainability and HVAC.
According to its brochure, the course will focus on the “impact that climate change has on new and existing buildings” and will teach attendees “how to propose design solutions to meet zero carbon building objectives”.
According to AIRAH’s website, attendees “will journey through the science of climate change and energy and on to the design issues proposed by zero carbon building objectives in both new and existing buildings.”
The course will cover several key topics, including but not limited to: sustainable buildings, adapting to climate change, energy consumption, passive heating and cooling and alternate HVAC systems.
AIRAH’s website also stated that when attendees complete the course they will be able to explain key issues of climate changes and its predicted impact on buildings in Australia, explain the concept of the sustainable building, propose design solutions for buildings to meet zero carbon building objectives and use tools and techniques to demonstrate sustainable design performance.
The course is designed for mechanical design engineers and ESD engineers who have had at least three years experience in the built environment. Dr Dominique Hes, University of Melbourne lecturer and founding board member of the Australian Living Futures Institute, will be the course facilitator.
The course will commence on Monday August 22.
