Businesses that provide their staff with training could be eligible to apply for an Australian Training Award.
The Australian Training Awards recognise excellence in training and development. For businesses, there are two awards that they can apply for–the Australian Apprenticeship and the Disability Training Employer Awards.
The Australian Apprenticeships Employer Award aims to recognise innovative improvements in training that have helped a business’ trainees or apprentices. Businesses that want to apply for this Award have to meet four points of selection criteria–Innovation in the delivery of training for apprentice/s, Links with training organisations & the community, Apprentice/trainee focus/outcomes and Performance outcomes.
The Innovation in the delivery of training for apprentice/s selection criteria involves employers demonstrating if they have demonstrated innovation in their approach to the design and delivery of training for apprentices and trainees. The Links with training organisations and community selection criteria involves employers demonstrating that they have worked to ensure that the training programs work with registered training organisations and the broader community. The Apprentice/trainee focus/outcomes involves employers having to demonstrate how their approach to training has impacted positively on the apprentices/trainees. The Performance outcomes selection criteria involves employers providing evidence what the impact/outcome of the implementation of innovation was.
The Disability Training Employer Award aims to recognise employers who demonstrating outstanding outcomes from the provision of nationally recognised training staff with disability. Businesses that want to apply for this Award also have to meet four points of selection criteria–Excellence and innovation in training, Business/employee outcomes, Links with training organisations & the community and Sharing success.
The Excellence and innovation in training selection criteria involves employers having to demonstrate excellence and innovation in their approach to the provision of nationally recognised training for employees with disability. The Business/employee outcomes selection criteria involves employers demonstrating what outcomes have been achieved as a result of training. The Links with training organisations and community selection criteria involves employers providing evidence that the training meets the needs of both the organisation and the employee. The Sharing success selection criteria involves employers demonstrating who else has benefited from or who could adopt the approaches used in training.
The business that wins the award will win $5000 in prize money as well as be provided with national recognition as a leader in training and development and publicity that can attract more customers and prospective employees.
Nominations for the Australian Training Awards close on May 29 and the winners of the two Awards will be announced at the Australian Training Awards presentation dinner event on November 19. The dates of the notifications of finalists and non-shortlisted applicants and when finalists are to attend judging interviews are yet to be announced.
