The Air conditioning and Refrigeration European Association (AREA) has updated its low refrigerant guide to include a list of training centres for contractors to gain further education.
The Low GWP Refrigerants: Guidance on use and basic competence requirements for contractors was released in June 2011 with the aim of setting AREA’s position on the use of low GWP refrigerants and to set basic competence requirements for contractors to deal with low GWP refrigerants. It also contained a table of respective properties of low GWP refrigerants and detailed information on these refrigerants which include: ammonia (R717), hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide (R744) and HFOs.
The updated edition includes an annex of training recommendations on low GWP refrigerants, with course details and minimum necessary equipment and components. The updated edition also includes a list of training centres in AREA-member countries that provide practical training, theoretical training and/or both practical and theoretical training on how to use low GWP refrigerants.
