The Australian Training Awards are being presented in Hobart tonight.
The Australian Training Awards, currently in its 21st year, are, according to their official website, the peak national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Their official website also states that the Awards recognise individuals, businesses and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for their contribution to provide skills to Australia.
The awards are presented in 18 categories—nine to individuals, five to businesses and four to RTOs.
The nine award categories for individuals are the: Lifetime Achievement Award, National Achievement Award, Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year Award, Vocational Student of the Year Award, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award, Australian Apprentice (Trainee) of the Year Award, Australian Apprentice of the Year Award, VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award, Excellence in Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice Award.
The five award categories for businesses are the: Small Employer of the Year Award, Employer of the Year Award, Australian Apprenticeship–Employer Award, Disability Training–Employer Award and Industry Collaboration Award.
The four award categories for RTOs are the: Small Training Provider of the Year Award, Large Training Provider of the Year Award, International Training Provider of the Year Award and the School Pathways to VET Award.
