Deadline extension for refrigeration standards review

Back in July, RACCA Australia published an article on public comments on five proposed new Australian/New Zealand refrigeration standards opening.

Now there has been a deadline extension on the second round of public comments on the Standards.

According to a report by Climate Control News, the second round of public comments on AS/NZS ISO 817:2015, Refrigerants–Designation and Safety Classification and AS/NZS 5149 Refrigerating Systems and Heat Pumps–Safety and Environment Requirements, Parts 1 to 4, originally closed on April 4, however the deadline has now been extended to May 4, due to stakeholders requesting more time to comment.

Standards Australia Public Affairs Officer, Torrin Marquardt, stated to Climate Control News that a second round of public comment was needed to deal with technical changes.

Marquardt also stated that the standards are based on international standards published by the ISO in 2014 and once these new standards are published, they will supersede the current standards for refrigerating systems, which were published almost twenty years ago.

Once the comments are reviewed and resolved by the committee, the next stage will be publication of the standards. After publication, an industry-wide education campaign will be launched.

The draft standards can be found and commented on here.
