The European cooling industry has renewed calls for a national F-gas certificate database at the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board’s (ACRIB) F-Gas conference.
A national database would enable wholesalers and end-users to check if their customers and contractors and subcontractors respectively, held appropriate F-Gas company certification. Delegates in attendance were told by the Environment Agency that it is the responsibility of wholesales and end-users themselves to check if their customers and contractors and subcontractors held the appropriate certification.
These renewed calls come as F-gas regulations will come into effect next month.
Graeme Fox from AREA stated that there needs to be a way to check whether someone trying to buy gas is certified and without a national database there was no way to do that, he then went on to provide an example of fraudulent practices where companies pretend to be certified or forge certification.
Consultant Ray Gluckman, who has over 30 years of experience in refrigeration stated that the emphasis should be put on providing evidence of credentials and that a company certificate should be compulsory.
More information on these renewed calls can be found here.
F-gas regulations come into effect on January 1.
