The Fair Work Ombudsman has online training courses available for both employers and employees for dealing with issues in the workplace.
Currently there are five online courses available—managing performance, starting a new job, hiring employees and two difficult conversations in the workplace courses (one for managers and one for employees).
The managing performance course caters to employers or managers and focuses on how to maintain good performance from employees. The course provides information on setting up performance management systems, as well as how to conduct performance evaluations.
The starting a new job course caters to new employees to help them understand what their rights are and what behaviour is expected in the workplace.
The hiring employees course caters to employers and provides guidance on hiring employees. This course focuses on how to attract the most suitable candidates and how to conduct interviews and inductions.
The difficult conversations in the workplace courses caters to both employers and employees and focuses on how to have difficult conversations in an appropriate manner, as well as reach a solution that suits everyone.
The Fair Work Ombudsman said that they are working on creating a diversity and discrimination course.
The courses are interactive, contain videos and most of them provide a final assessment to complete. A Certificate of Completion is available to download for free on completion of each course.
The courses can be found on the Fair Work Ombudsman’s online learning centre. The online learning centre can be found here.
In related news, the Fair Work Ombudsman have also released two guides for resolving issues in the workplace–one guide for employers and one for employees. The guides can be found here.
