THROWBACK THURSDAY: Want repeat business?

This article was published in the Jan-Feb 1957 edition of Cold Facts. The author is unknown.

Want repeat business? Leave your name on each job.

Every serviceman (and servicewoman) knows that the very best way to get repeat business is to do careful, thorough work and use top quality repair parts. But the best possible service job won’t win you any callbacks if the customer can’t remember your name or phone number when the need for future service arises.

That’s why it’s so important to adopt some method that ensures your name being left on every job you do. Stickers or decals are one of the best and simplest ways of accomplishing this. They serve the double purpose of reminding customers who did their service work and telling them how to get in touch with you the next time they need service.

Some successful servicemen (and servicewomen) use a type of sticker that not only carries their name, address and phone number, but also reminds the customer that his/her equipment should be inspected periodically. Space is provided at the bottom of this sticker for a condensed record of the four or five most recent service calls, by date and type of service performed.

Remember, when the average customer needs refrigeration or air conditioning service, he/she doesn’t have time to shop around. He/she jumps at the very first chance to get reliable repairs. That’s why it’s like money in the bank to keep your name and number where he/she’ll be sure to see it when the emergency arises.
