FEATURE: Air con contractors’ group elected to ARC Industry Board

Sumit Oberoi, National Director of the Air Conditioning & Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA), has been elected onto the Australian Refrigeration Council’s (ARC) Board.

Mr Oberoi joins at an important time with the ARC Board actively meeting new challenges associated with a dynamic refrigeration and air conditioning industry including: skills, training quality, refrigerant evolution and energy efficiency.

ARC CEO Glenn Evans emphasised his excitement about the addition of Mr Oberoi and AMCA to the board.

“Sumit is a passionate voice for air conditioning contractors. His knowledge and experience will bolster the Board and provide ARC and licence holders with an objective perspective on important industry issues.

“ARC is a genuine partnership between Government and industry, delivering positive industry and environmental outcomes through the formation of the world-leading, skills-based national RAC licence scheme. This provides ARC with a unique platform for collaboration across all of industry.”

Internationally, the work that ARC does has been recognised as world-leading. Locally, the ARC licence scheme has been endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG)–the peak intergovernmental forum in Australia–as the only domestic RAC licence scheme to deliver a net benefit, highlighting ARC’s effectiveness and efficiency credentials.

ARC emphasised that their strategy to “future-proof” the industry is a major directive that is a natural extension of having an inclusive and diverse industry Board.
