According to a report by Climate Control News, the NSW Government is set to tighten cooling tower regulations, after an outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease in Sydney, earlier this year.
The report states that in an effort to contain the Legionnaires’ Disease outbreaks, NSW Health have established a working group to review current regulations and identify recommendations to strengthen current laws surrounding the operation and maintenance of cooling towers. The report stated that the recommendations are currently being presented by the working group.
HydroChem CEO, Nick Duncan, stated to Climate Control News that the current regulations in NSW are non-prescriptive compared to other states and believed that more needed to be done, such as the introduction of a registration scheme that maintains an up-to-date list of cooling tower systems.
