This week is National Stroke Week.
Kicking off today and concluding on Sunday, National Stroke Week is the Stroke Foundation’s annual awareness campaign. The Stroke Foundation stated on their website that they want “Australians to understand the impact time has on a stroke” as a speedy reaction can influence treatment and recovery. The Stroke Foundation also stated that they are encouraging Australians to host an awareness activity, fund raise and/or host a health check.
Several events are being held across the country this week, including: awareness activities, health checks and information stalls & sessions.
The Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support for stroke survivors, carers and raises awareness to the public and government. Their website provides detailed information on a variety of stroke-related topics such as: what do while waiting for an ambulance, prevention, types of strokes, treatment, how to seek help, research and facts and figures. The Stroke Foundation also provides details on prevention, treatment and support programs.
