IAQ awareness leads to energy recovery technology acceptance

According to a report by Climate Control News, increased awareness of how indoor air quality (IAQ) affects office productivity is leading to increased acceptance of energy recovery technology, and in turn a growth in the energy recovery technology market.

The report, which used research from Navigant Research and Sandler Research, states that IAQ technologies that are set to grow include: carbon dioxide sensors, demand-controlled ventilation, dedicated outdoor air systems, ultraviolet irradiation and energy recovery ventilators. According to Navigant Research, energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) are especially rising in popularity, due to providing energy savings while maintaining good IAQ.

The report stated that while energy recovery ventilators are primarily used in large spaces such as cinemas, lecture theatres and function centres, they could also be used in office spaces.

Navigant Research has also stated that the worldwide revenue from ERVs will increase from $1.6 billion to $2.8 billion and the overall IAQ market is set to grow from $3.3 billion to $5.6 billion by 2020.

Sandler Research stated that the global central air condition system is set to grow due to an increase in the income of people per capita, as well as an increase in global temperature.

More information on the research on the energy recovery technology market can be found here.
