National Rally for Renewables to be held next week

Thousands of solar and renewable energy workers, as well as businesses, solar owners and supporters will come together at the National Rally for Renewables next Friday (September 26).

According to the Rally’s website, the aim of the Rally is to address the possibility of the federal government trying to cut or axe the Renewable Energy Target (RET). This will be done by speaking to the key Cabinet ministers, who will be discussing the future of the RET in the coming days. The Rally will also address the jobs that will be lost and how hard it will be for businesses and consumers to go solar if the RET is cut or axed.

The Rally is not held in one spot, in fact, it is being held in each state and territory (except NT).

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Barnaby Joyce, Deputy Leader of the Nationals will be attending the Rally in metropolitan and regional NSW respectively.

Andrew Robb, Minister for Trade and Investment will be attending the Rally in Victoria.

Peter Dutton, Minister for Sport and Minister for Health will be attending the Rally in QLD.

Jamie Briggs, Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development will be attending the Rally in SA.

Julie Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs will be attending the Rally in WA.

Senator Eric Abetz will be attending the Rally in Tasmania and Senator Zed Seselja will be attending the Rally in Canberra.
