If you are a dinosaur like me, you may remember converting Methyl Chloride systems to R12…
Well we are about to see another change of refrigerants that our industry will use. Some of these refrigerants have been around for a long time, ammonia being one of them. CO2 is becoming increasingly popular in certain areas of our industry as are hydrocarbons, HFOs and R32.
You may ask “what does this mean to me?” Well, all of these refrigerants require additional skills to be able to work with them safely.
At our Info Night, we will discuss how to transition, if at all possible to some of these refrigerants. We will also outline the additional training required and where to get that training.
Greg Picker will be talking about the regulations that will force the changes to our industry.
Michael Bennett will be talking about refrigerant recovery, destruction, and what we have to do with the new refrigerants.
Steve Smith, Head Teacher of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trades at TAFE NSW, will be talking about safe transition and the safety of technicians using these refrigerants.
As there have been some deaths associated with some of these refrigerants, it is imperative for you and your technicians to attend and learn how to use them safely.
We are hoping for the evening to be concluded within two hours, after the presentation there will be time to network and chat to the presenters.
I look forward to seeing you all there.
