NSW Complaints Register now includes locations

Back in August, RACCA Australia wrote an article on the launch of NSW Fair Trading’s Complaint Register, which provides data on a list of NSW businesses who have received 10 or more complaints from consumers in the previous month.

Now NSW Fair Trading are including the locations of the businesses on the register, in their data.

The NSW Complaints Register is updated monthly and the data for September 2016 is the first to include the locations of businesses who are on the register. NSW Fair Trading Commissioner, Rod Stowe, emphasised NSW Fair Trading’s commitment to the Register and the reasons behind including locations in its data, in NSW Fair Trading’s media release.

“Since the launch of the Complaints Register in August, we have remained committed to empowering consumers with the information they need to make choices in the marketplace that are right for them.

“By publishing location data, we address industry concerns and give branches and franchises a strong incentive to improve their business practices.”

Stowe also stated that the September data demonstrated the effectiveness of the Register as fewer businesses are on it in comparison to August, and it shows the proactive steps NSW businesses are taking to avoid appearing on it at all. He also stated that the Register has been met with positive and enthusiastic feedback.

The locations are shown as suburbs, next to the product types, on the Register.

The NSW Complaints Register can be found here.
