Amid fears of Qatar’s sweltering heat affecting the health of soccer fans, the World Cup is now scheduled to take place during the country’s winter in November.
With temperatures in the shade of Al Janoub soccer stadium reaching up to 46.7°C, Qatar has implemented outdoor air-conditioning for its soccer stadiums and outdoor malls to enable shoppers to browse in comfort.
The delay of the sporting event reflects larger climate change concerns.
