Registrations are open in South Australia and Victoria for AIRAH’s Essential Safety Measures course.

The Essential Safety Measures course focuses on the essential safety measures of building upkeep and maintenance, in particular HVAC-based fire and smoke control. The course will also provide necessary information on the legal requirements of building upkeep and maintenance so businesses can advise their clients of what level of maintenance and performance testing is required by Australian Regulations and Standards.

The key topics that the course will focus on include: purpose and application of fire and smoke control, fire dampers, testing and commissioning smoke control systems, an introduction to the regulatory framework, certification and the Australian Standard AS1851-2012 (Routine Service of fire protection systems and equipment).

The course is designed for technicians and supervisors and will run for one day in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and NSW. The course will be facilitated by Simon Hill, who has had over 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry and is on the Standards Australia Ventilation & Air Conditioning Committee and a chair of the sub-committee for AS1851-2012.

The course costs $499 and $599 for AIRAH members and non-members to attend respectively. Registrations, dates and locations for the course in Queensland and NSW are yet to be announced. The course can also be delivered at the workplace, however any business interested in having the course providing to them at their workplace has to have at least 10 to 12 people interested in completing the course.

More information on AIRAH’s Essential Safety Measures course including where to register, dates, locations and AIRAH’s cancellation and refund policy, can be found here.
