Seeley International–Australia’s largest air conditioning manufacturer has opened a new purpose-built product testing laboratory, which is also Australia’s only air conditioning and heating manufacturer with NATA accreditation.
The Meridian Test Laboratory, which was opened on October 16 by Ian Mcfarlane, Minister for Industry, has opened after two years of extensive planning and provides Seeley International with the ability to test products by creating their own weather conditions.
This is possible through the Laboratory’s design flexibility and equipment, which includes two test chambers with independent control of wet and dry bulb temperatures and three nozzle boxes to calculate accurate measurements over a variety of airflows. The ability to create their own weather conditions means that there is no longer a need to wait for ideal temperature and weather conditions to test products. This means that efficiency will increase with product development and assessment times.
The products that Seeley International will be able to test in the Laboratory include direct and indirect evaporative coolers, refrigerated air conditioners and heat pumps. Large evaporative coolers are able to be tested with two desiccant dehumidifers to extract unwanted moisture from test chambers.
The Laboratory also enables Seeley International to test the products of their competitors.
