This month is Tradies National Health Month

This month is Tradies National Health Month.

Tradies National Health Month was established by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) in 2013 to help provide information to tradies on the importance of maintaining their health and safety. Last year’s Tradies National Health Month saw the involvement of over 260,000 tradies across the country.

According to the Stop Trading Your Health Away 2014 report, tradies have among the highest number of injuries and health & safety risks than any other profession.

The APA will be spending this month promoting and providing health and safety tips to tradies. The official Tradies National Health Month website is interactive and provides several statistics, facts and tips on physical health, safety, mental health and bullying in the workplace. Some of the eye-opening statistics and facts include: 94 percent of tradies admitting that they don’t eat enough fruit and/or vegetables, 10 tradies are badly injured at work everyday, falls from height account for 25 percent of fatalities and a survey of 6500 employees found that 25 percent had been bullied or discriminated against.

More information on Tradies National Health Month can be found here.
