THROWBACK THURSDAY: ARBS 2012

Due to Celsius Magazine folding in 2012 and the RACCA Australia website and social media pages not being established until 2013, there are no RACCA/Celsius articles on ARBS 2012.

Due to the non-existence of RACCA/Celsius articles on ARBS 2012, I have written a compilation article on ARBS 2012.

*****

ARBS 2012 was held in Melbourne from May 7-9 and was another huge success.

ARBS Exhibition Manager, Sue Falcke stated in an interview with Ecolibrium Magazine that ARBS 2012 was “the best ever, breaking records across the board.” She also stated that they’ve had the most exhibitors, the biggest floor area and most visitors in Melbourne ever. According to Ecolibrium’s article, there were 7,335 visitors and 270 exhibitors in total.

There were riveting seminars and workshops covering various topics, including but not limited to: Australia’s potential carbon tax, climate change, new regulations, new building schemes, alternative energy sources, consolidated national standards, licensing regulations, cogeneration/trigeneration and BIM. There were also seminars on green building performance and transitioning to low carbon emissions, fitting in with the seminars and workshops’ sustainability theme.

The ARBS 2012 Award winners were: Daniel Tan Teng Yeow from Fantech (Young Achiever), the Pixel Building by James Williams Pty Ltd (HVAC Project Excellence), Hiflow Industries (Outstanding Service and Maintenance Provider), F Mayer Imports by Bitzer Australia and Strathbrook Industrial Services (Refrigeration Project Excellence), Fantech (Product Excellence) and Managing for Profit by AMCA (Outstanding Industry Education/Training). More information on the Award winners can be found here.

There were eight inductees into the ARBS 2012 Hall of Fame: William Ray Ahern, Murray Mason, Clive Broadbent, Graeme A J Gibbs, Gerard Whittaker, Bill Robertson, Bernie Bugdalski and our very own, Kevin O’Shea. Ahern and Mason were nominated by AIRAH, Broadbent and Gibbs were nominated by CIBSE, Gerard Whittaker was nominated by AMCA, Robertson and Bugdalski were nominated by AREMA and of course, Kevin was nominated by RACCA. More information on the Hall of Fame inductees, including their bios, can be found here.
