A Queensland mine worker has become seriously injured during an explosion caused by uncertified refrigerant in the truck’s air conditioning system.
The release of hydrocarbon from the air conditioning system originally designed for R134a has been found to be the reason for the explosive atmosphere. While the source of the ignition is still under investigation, the person responsible for servicing the the AC system did not hold the required Queensland Gas Work Licenses for handling hydrocarbon refrigerant.
