Preloved Buildings Conference on next week

RACCA Australia published an article on AIRAH’s Preloved Buildings Conference being held this month–it is on next week.

The Conference is being held on Tuesday October 28 and Wednesday October 29 at Moda Events Paradise in Brisbane and will focus on optimising the performance of Australia’s existing building stock.

According to an AIRAH media release on the Conference, there will be 20 presentations over the two days, in addition to three keynote speakers, covering a wide variety of topics. These topics include updates on NABERS, Soft Landings, Calculating Cool, case studies about the refurbishment of an aquatic centre, commercial office buildings and government buildings.

Presentations will be held by industry professionals with extensive knowledge and years of experience. Dr Paul Bannister will demonstrate how recent advances in building simulation models have made testing multiple common building strategies possible. Ken Gurcan Erbas, managing director of Erbas and Associates will deliver a presentation on mechanical services challenges in preloved buildings. Erbas will do this by providing examples of post-occupancy problems and successes in refurbishing and retrofitting mechanical services into existing buildings.

According to AIRAH’s Chief Operating Officer, Neil Cox, the Preloved Buildings Conference is one of AIRAH’s most popular and enduring events. Conference committee chair, Jessica Holz stated that the conference is important as it provides the opportunity to learn about the challenges and opportunities with the existing building market.
