A preview of the 2015 National Construction Code (NCC) will be freely available online from this Sunday (February 1), with information seminars across the country on the Code to follow over the next month.
This year makes the first year that the Code–which is designed to incorporate all on-site construction requirements into a single code–is freely available online. The Australian Building Ministers’ Forum made the decision last year to make the Code freely available to reduce the burden of building regulation and as a result of eliminating the associated costs with purchasing the Code, it will become more accessible to small businesses, industries and the community. The Code previously cost $400 per person.
The information seminars to follow will be held in Canberra, Hobart, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney from February 17 until March 20. Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne are holding two seminars and Sydney are holding three seminars. The seminars will focus on the amendments in the 2015 Code.
The 2015 National Construction Code comes into effect from May 1.
