Business.gov.au have continued their ‘creating a great online shopping experience‘ article series by publishing info on the Payment Card Industry (PCI).

Business.gov.au emphasise that if businesses “accept, process, transmit or store cardholder data” that business owners are required to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and that meeting these standards will ensure protection of their customers’ information.

Business.gov.au define the PCI DSS as “a set of requirements that make it easier for business owners to ensure their customers’ card information are always secure.” The standards include how a business takes a payment online, over the phone and over email/post.

Business.gov.au also details the benefits and the 12 key requirements of being PCI compliant.

Business.gov.au’s information on the payment card industry can be read in full here.
