Business.gov.au have published a warning for business owners about an ASIC scam.
Business.gov.au provided details on the scam targeting customers of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), which involves customers being contacted by the scammers via email who are pretending to be ASIC staff, requesting payments and personal information to renew their business/company name.
Business.gov.au emphasised the importance of business owners protecting themselves and their businesses from scams, especially as many scammers imitate government departments to gain sensitive information. They also emphasise what to look out for to avoid being affected by the scam.
