Changes to A3 and A2L Limits

Australia and New Zealand have adopted the IEC standard for A3 and A2L charge limits in commercial appliances. Released by Standards Australia (AS/NZS 60335.2.89:2020), the new standard allows commercial open appliances to raise A3 charge limits to “13 times the lower flammability limit (LFL) of the refrigerant; for propane (R290) it increases to 500 g from 150g”. The charge limit for A2 and A2L refrigerants have also been increased from 150 g to 1,200 g.
