According to a report by Lux Research, the demand for data centre cooling equipment will rise so high over the next five years, that it has been dubbed the “golden age” of data centre growth.
According to the report–Blowing Hot Air-Uncovering Opportunities to Cool the World’s Data Centres, the demand of data centre cooling equipment will rise by more than 60 percent over the next five years and that the biggest emerging markets can be found in Germany, Turkey and China.
The cost of cooling equipment is currently valued at $1 billion per year globally, the growth of its value will match the growth of the data centres–rising over 60 percent over the next five years.
According to the report evaporative cooling is best for large-scale centres, while computer room air conditioning is best for smaller data centres.
In Australia, the CM Technology Group has decided to build a new data centre as their existing centre could no longer meet their needs. Their new data centre will resolve the issues of relying on alerts from the IT infrastructure and lack of fire protection.
