FLIR’s TG165 bridges gap between IR thermometer and thermal cameras

FLIR Systems have announced the release of its latest Imaging IR Thermometer which bridges the gap between current IR thermometers and FLIR’s current thermal cameras.

The TG165 IR Thermometer bridges this gap as it combines a single spot IR thermometer with a thermal camera, complete with an LCD screen. This enables users to detect any problems or issues and resolve them a lot quicker than with the current generation of IR thermometers. This means that users, which include HVAC technicians won’t have to make blind guesses on taking temperature readings.

The TG165 works by the spot thermometer emitting a beam of infrared light landing on an object and bouncing back so that the thermometer can determine its apparent surface temperature based on the amount of thermal energy the object is either emitting, reflecting and/or transmitting.

The TG165 has many capabilities ranging from measuring overloaded or loose electrical connections to being able to check the efficiency of refrigerated display cases, to checking for drive motor or compressor overheating, checking HVAC vents and temperature operation and being able to check for sources of heat gain or cold air leaks.

Other features of the TG165 include being able to see heat issues clearly, increased accuracy in temperature measurements, a rechargeable battery, auto power off, a temperature measurement range of below 25 to 380+ degrees (Celsius) and the ability to store data with an 8GB micro SD card.

Distributors of the TG165 in Australia are Trio Test & Measurement and Cabac.

More information on the TG165, including image galleries and videos on how to use the TG165 can be found here.
