Green Cities 2015 Conference kicks off today

The Green Cities 2015 Conference kicks off today.

The Green Cities Conference is the largest and most influential green building conference in the Asia Pacific region. It is an annual joint initiative of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and the Property Council of Australia. This year is the ninth Green Cities conference.

Starting this morning and concluding on Thursday afternoon, Green Cities 2015 comprises of presentations and site tours within the Green and building industries. Today consists of presentations covering many topics, including but not limited to: design inspired by nature, climate-savvy insurance, humanising the workplace and buildings that boost financial, natural and human capital.

Wednesday will kick off with a Women’s Leadership Breakfast which will lead to sessions and two lots of short presentations. The first lot of short presentations will focus on Belonging: People and Place & Robust and Resilient Cities. The second lot of short presentations will focus on Upgrade for Uplift (Retrofitting our Cities) & Innovation in Action. Wednesday will conclude with the Weapons of Mass Creation showcase, a competition that awards innovation, sustainability and design, the HVAC Calculating Cool is one of the entrants in the competition. Five finalists will be picked for the showcase.

Thursday will kick off with all day masterclasses on urban design & placemaking, Green Star and GRESB for responders, as well as half-day masterclasses on conscious capitalism and high performance buildings. There will also be site tours of the Melbourne Water Corporate Office, 115 Batman Street, the Forte Apartments, The Library at The Dock and the University of Melbourne’s, Faculty of Business and Economics to conclude the conference.
