Speakers Confirmed for Refrigeration 2015 Conference

AIRAH have confirmed on their website that there will be at least six expert speakers at their Refrigeration 2015 Conference later this year.

Stefan Jensen from Scantec Refrigeration Technologies, Julian Hudson from JCH Refrigeration Consulting, Barbara H Minor from The Chemours Company USA, Phillip Henshall from QuikCool Cooling Technologies, Kevin Lee from Heatcraft and Arta Bafekr from Karamadan Overseas are the six confirmed speakers, with more speakers yet to be confirmed.

Stefan Jensen will be speaking about the recent advances in ammonia dry expansion applications. Jensen will also summarise the design, installation and operating experiences associated with five new low-refrigerant charge, dual-stage ammonia dry expansion systems in various locations across the country.

Julian Hudson will be speaking about two case studies of different combinations of natural and synthetic refrigerant and how to make the right choice when replacing R22, as it is being phased out.

Barbara H Minor will be speaking about the brief history of the development of HFO-1234yf and the challenges encountered with using a mildly flammable refrigerant. Minor will also be discussing 12334yf/HFC blends that have been recently approved by ASHRAE.

Phillip Henshall will be speaking about a project which uses phase change material thermal storage and a case study modelling NSW power supply tariffs. Henshall will be presenting the case study to illustrate how the combination of energy demand management and thermal storage can reduce refrigeration running costs.

Kevin Lee will be speaking about AS/NZS1677 parts 1 and 2–Australia’s primary refrigeration safety and environmental standards–being replaced by adoptions of ISO817 and ISO5149 parts 1 to 4. Lee will also discuss the difference between these standards, as well as outline the public comment process as the adoptions will be released for public comment in June.

Arta Bafekr will be speaking about the challenges for small-to-medium enterprises converting to hydrocarbons due to high initial investment costs and how to cost-effectively overcome these challenges.

AIRAH’s Refrigeration 2015 Conference will be held at the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach on June 2 to 3.
