Anyone who is undergoing nationally recognised training this year will now need to have a Unique Student Identifier or USI.
Students who will need a USI are students who are enrolling in nationally recognised training for the first time, which includes training at TAFE or a private organisation, apprenticeships, skill sets, certificates and/or diploma courses. High school students, as well as students who are continuing nationally recognised training will also need a USI.
The USI links to an online account which will hold training records and results, which can easily be accessed by students to provide to their employers when applying for a job, apprenticeship, traineeship or extra training. The online account will contain training records and results of training completed from this year onwards and will be available in 2016 as records and results are submitted and updated each year. However results from previous years of training will not be available.
Once a student creates their USI, they will need to provide them to the training organisations they study at as it will enable the organisations to view and/or update their USI account, as well as view their transcript.
USI accounts can be accessed by students online from a computer, tablet and smartphone at any time.
More information on the USI can be found here. If you need to create a USI, you can do so here and if you need to contact the USI office, you can do so here.
